All office locations are new state-of-the art facilities less than five years old, with a new location in Kirksville added in 2004 and in Springfield added in 2007. The practice has 17 employees, including 9 hearing instrument specialists, and 8 staff employees.

Dean and Beverly Jones moved to Jefferson City in 1956 with their children Missy, David, and Jim to open the hearing aid dispensing practice. They started out small and worked out of their home for two years. Dean went to people’s homes to test and fit hearing aids, and Beverly worked in the home, mailing out battery orders, scheduling appointments, and taking calls from patients. In 1958, they opened the first office location in the corner space of what was then the Missouri Hotel (now the Missouri Baptist Building).

Dean suffered from hearing loss himself. He recognized that hearing aids were not perfect and that regular service was essential to keep them functioning well. He firmly believed in giving the kind of hearing care he would want as a hearing wearer. Thus, he and Beverly were among the first hearing aid dispensers to open branch offices to enable their patients to have access to regular service. It also built loyalty from their patients.

Jones Beltone Hearing Centers grew rapidly in the 1960’s and 70’s. New full time employees were hired and branch offices were opened in Columbia, Rolla, Mexico, and Moberly. Beltone, Inc. recognized Dean and Beverly’s accomplishments with every company award offered, including the President’s Cup for being the outstanding Beltone Dispenser in North America in 1976. In 1978, their son David went to work in the practice, followed by the other son Jim in 1980. Today, Dean is still president of the company, with David and Jim managing day-to-day activities.
